Welcome to Global Groove — a cultural dance mini-series brought to life by Lakes Multicultural Collective in collaboration with Mana Tahuna.
From July to November, we’re inviting you to join us on a joyful journey through movement. Each month, we’ll explore a different style of dance from around the world — taught by passionate local instructors, and designed especially for absolute beginners. These free, community-based classes are all about connection, curiosity, and having a go.
On Tuesday 28 October, our community dance series continues with Belly Dancing.
ABelly dancing is a form of expressive movement with roots across the Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean regions. It’s a celebration of femininity, storytelling, and cultural rhythm—known for its graceful, grounded movement and strong sense of connection to self.
This session is led by local Queenstown facilitator Beekela Francis. Beekela brings years of experience and a gentle, welcoming teaching style to every class. Her sessions are relaxed, empowering, and designed for all bodies and backgrounds. Whether you’ve danced before or are trying something new, this is your chance to discover the joy of moving with intention, fluidity, and flair.
Expect an evening filled with rhythm, hip shimmies, warm smiles, and shared laughter. Come as you are, wear something comfy, and let the music guide you.
