Global Groove
Move Together,
Learn Together.
Introducing Global Groove, a joyful new workshop series that invites the Queenstown Lakes community to connect through movement, culture, and rhythm. Kicking off in July 2025!
At Lakes Multicultural Collective, we believe culture is something to be lived, shared, and celebrated. And what better way to do that than through dance?
This winter, we’re launching Global Groove—a vibrant new dance workshop series that invites the Queenstown community to connect through movement, music, and cultural expression.
Each month, we’ll explore a different dance style from around the world—facilitated by incredible community members who carry these traditions with pride.
Curious About “WHY”
We’re Doing This?
Dance is more than steps to music. Across time and place, dance has served as a language of celebration, protest, identity, storytelling, and deep cultural expression. Whether it’s performed around a village fire, in the streets during a festival, or on a theatre stage, dance brings people together. It connects us to our ancestors, our communities, and ourselves.
Through Global Groove, we aim to:
🎉 Celebrate the diversity of cultures in our community.
🫱🏽🫲🏼 Offer a joyful, welcoming space for cross-cultural connection.
❤️ Honour the stories and traditions that live within these movements.
☀️ Support well-being and self-expression in a fun, accessible way.
Whether you’ve danced before or this is your very first time—this space is for you!
How to Join?
You don’t need to be a dancer—you just need to be curious.
The Global Groove community dance series is free to attend, and open to people of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels!
However, due to limited space, we require attendees to reserve their spots through Humanitix.

Our Partners
For this series, we are proud to partner with Mana Tahuna, a local Māori trust committed to the revitalisation and empowerment of Māori in the Queenstown Lakes District.
As tangata whenua, Māori are the cultural backbone of Aotearoa—and they know better than anyone the deep power that movement, music, and storytelling can hold.
With Mana Tahuna’s support, Global Groove honours the role of dance in connecting people to land, language, and legacy—starting here, with the heartbeat of Queenstown.
