Good & Ready - Train the Trainers Workshop

Become a Community Ambassador for Emergency Preparedness

When a major emergency or disaster happens, the first 5–7 days are the most crucial. That’s when our communities need to rely on themselves and each other — before emergency services can reach everyone.

This hands-on workshop, facilitated by New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC) with support from Lakes Multicultural Collective (LMC) and Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) Welcoming Communities, will help you build the knowledge, confidence, and skills to become a Good & Ready community ambassador.

Through this training, you’ll learn how to share practical emergency preparedness information with your own community, family, or cultural group — in your own language and in ways that make sense to you.

What You’ll Learn:

✅ How to help your family, friends, and neighbours stay safe and self-sufficient for 5–7 days after a disaster.

✅ How to build a simple, effective emergency plan and pack an emergency kit.

✅ What to do and where to go in a local emergency — including information about community hubs, Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs), and how different agencies (Red Cross, Civil Defence, QLDC) respond.

✅ How to share this knowledge within your community with confidence and clarity.
